A new editorial by Gianclaudio Malgieri and Frank Pasquale has been published on August the 1st by “Il Sole 24 Ore”, the main financial newspaper in Italy. The two authors, who have been working for months at AI regulatory models in the EU and in US, highlight the risks for the indiscriminate use of AI in sensitive areas (education, law enforcement, banks, etc.) and the need for the EU to go on with the Commission’s proposed “AI Act”, improving some key aspects of it. The US, where some mild attempts to regulate AI can be observed at some states level, should learn from the EU and propose a federal law: this is a key global challenge that Biden cannot ignore.
